Exterior
Right out of 1927 and all steel this shows in near perfect condition. From the vertical ribbed grille to the vented center hinged hood, fenders have been removed, headlights retained and the boxy passenger cabin with its vinyl top that gracefully curves to the rear of the car with no fenders or bumpers. All gaps are well minded, and the paint is excellent throughout and its Metallic Peat, or as I say juicy key lime. Ceramic coated side pipe exhaust replaces the former running boards and our consignor states all new glass has been put in. Chrome trimmings are all excellent and period correct. 15-inch Weld DragLite drilled wheels are on all 4 corners and up front wrapped in 165R15’s and on the back 29×15.5×15 fatties. A small but mighty rod that has some sweet sour paint!
Interior
For the interior to contrast the peat we see some fuzzy Mocha, (brown), broadcloth which is looking a lot like the mohair but without the itch. On the door panels which are nice and tight a storage pouch a stitched panel with a period correct shiny window crank. A brown vinyl lower strip is also on. In back much like the original the overstuffed tuck and roll bench stretched form door top door and also presents in the mocha fuzzy broadcloth. This floats in a sea of square 3D pattern rubber flooring. In front in keeping with the original only better theme we see a peat upper bordered by a red pinstripe and a white lower all full metal jacket. In the center is a ribbed stainless oval panel that features vintage looking cream w black styled numbers and letters AutoMeter gauges with shiny bezels. A few billet style knobs and pulls are on the bottom and hanging below the dash above the drivers floor are the teardrop throttle pedal and round ribbed brake and clutch. Also, a long shifter reaches for the driver’s hand with a 8 ball topper knob, as well as a handbrake. An aftermarket cup holder/change holder plastic ”console” if you will sits in the center just under the dash. Fronting the dash and reaching for the driver is a chromed column white steering wheel with the iconic V8 logo in red type with a black center. Can you say ahhhhhooga?!
Drivetrain
A lift of the center hinged hood and we are in 289ci V8 heaven especially with the cast ribbed Cobra Badged valve and air cleaner coverings. This baby has been bored over .040, has a 4-barrel carburetor feeding it fossils and air, and a T5 5-speed manual transmission to whisk you down the road or track faster then you probably ever want or should go! An aluminum radiator keeps things at temperature and some high voltage yellow wires reach out and touch each cylinder intertwining with the ceramic coated polished headers that turn to wide side pipes. Simple but beautifully complex.
